* Since the metals width is quite narrow for the EJ20 (16.5mm), it is difficult to guarantee the metals strength. So to avoid engine trouble from metal burns TOMEI had to increase the surface hardness by using the palsonite hardening process. The end result was an improved metal characteristic that reaches an acceptable level.
